Whilst a non-destructive dampness survey can be regarded as fairly exhaustive, with a range of equipment and techniques that can be employed for diagnosis, the timber aspect of a survey is by necessity more generic. This is because most of the timber in a property is concealed behind items such as floor coverings and furniture etc, with the exception of the roof void, where the majority of the timber can be seen, except to areas where insulation or boarding are present. The only exception to this is when these impediments have been removed and floorboards have been lifted prior to the inspection.
